癌症患者善用電腦匯報 可延存活期

有研究顯示,接受治療的癌症病人在家使用電腦網上工具,匯報如噁心和疲倦等副作用,可以延長存活時間達5個月,改善比率近20%,比眾多新的癌症藥物更為有效,而且較致電醫生診所或等待下一次約見時間更容易快捷。
是次研究日前在美國芝加哥的癌症小組周年會議中講論,並在美國醫學會期刊發表。領導研究的北卡羅來納教會山大學研究員巴殊醫生(Ethan Basch)表示,通過網上匯報機制可以更快處理病人的副作用問題,令他們繼續接受治療。
美國臨床腫瘤科研究中心首席醫療總監史利斯基指出,人們不要以為在癌症治療期間不能避免出現副作用,應該盡快聯繫醫療機構。當病人感到難以呼吸,顯示所使用的藥物沒有功效,需要改用其他藥物。
巴殊指出,早期研究指有一半醫生未曾察覺病人出現副作用,這情況大多是病人沒有留意或不在乎身體出現副作用;有些病人則等待下次檢查時才提出,例如有病人妻子說,其丈夫躺在床上感疲倦或疼痛,卻沒有即時通知醫生。
研究測試使用網上工具,會否讓醫護人員更快獲悉病人出現的副作用,有766名癌症病人參與,其一組人如常使用醫療護理服務,另一組採用網上工具。參加者最大年紀是92歲,有22%屬中學教育程度以下,但能夠使用電腦。巴殊稱,年長的病人很快掌握這種方法。
當中使用網上工具的組別,每星期最少匯報一次,很快提供一系列常見的副作用,如胃口大減、便秘、咳嗽、腹瀉、呼吸困難、疲倦、熱潮紅、噁心或疼痛等。醫生在診所可以閱讀有關報告,護士亦可接到電郵,知道部分病人出現的副作用較嚴重,近80%情況是護士即時回應。當醫生及早知道病人的情況,便能對症下藥。
經過六個月測試後,大部分使用網上工具的病人,其健康質素有所改善,較少前往急症室,亦可以接受較長的化療時間,及有一個更好的生活質素。至於病人的存活率,使用網上工具的組別是31個月,另一組則是26個月。
